Physician-led care that puts patients first

New frontiers in patient-centered medicine

Kaiser Permanente introduced MyChart, which features advanced message and in-basket management, to the Mid-Atlantic States in fall 2024, with the Federation supporting other medical groups for deployment in 2025. The MyChart system simplifies patient access to medical records, appointment scheduling, test results, prescription management, and communication with Permanente physicians. And our physicians provided positive feedback for the deployment of the Abridge ambient listening clinical documentation tool across Kaiser Permanente.

The Federation-supported National Product Council’s Product Use Lifecycle (PUL) Team — made up of Permanente Medical Group, clinical, KP HealthConnect, and supply chain leaders — worked together to develop the Product Use Lifecycle program. This program provides several tools, including clinical-decision support, vendor communication and interoperability, procedure card maintenance, mobile picking, and reporting and analytics to help the Permanente Medical Groups select clinically appropriate, value-based products for procedures. Physicians on the team also incorporate guidance on enhancing quality, improving efficiency, and finding cost-saving opportunities in medical supply and implant product recommendations.

To further leverage new technology for better patient outcomes, the Federation formed an interregional PMG AI workgroup focused on creating common principles, core benchmark standards, and a shared framework for evaluating AI technologies, ensuring their responsible and evidence-based use.
